Introduction
There is currently no national dementia strategy in Poland.
On 24 April 2025, Polish Deputy Minister of Health, Wojciech Konieczny, confirmed that the government was developing an interdisciplinary strategy on dementia. During the ADI conference in Krakow, Poland, Deputy Minister Konieczny addressed delegates, highlighting the challenges associated with an ageing population and the risk of various forms of dementia. Additionally, he presented the main principles of the interdisciplinary strategy against dementia that is currently under development. On 23 June 2025, the Polish Ministry of Health launched a public consultation on a draft resolution of the Council of Ministers on the “National Programme for Action against Dementia for the years 2025-2030”. The aim of the programme is to:
- Ordering and disseminating activities already carried out for people with dementia and their relatives.
- Development of new, systemic solutions within the available sources of financing.
- Strengthening inter-ministerial cooperation and dialogue between the government and the social side.
