National Dementia Strategies
The Glasgow Declaration 2014 called for the creation of a European Dementia Strategy and national strategies in every country in Europe. The signatories also called upon world leaders to recognise dementia as a public health priority and to develop a global action plan on dementia.
The European Union conducts various activities to address the challenges of dementia, which can be found here. The number of countries recognising dementia as a priority and developing national strategies has continued to grow in recent years, however, there remains much work to be done, as many countries still do not have strategies in place to address dementia as a policy priority.
In the following country profiles, a basic overview of the country's national dementia strategy is provided, as well as relevant documents and links to further information. For countries without a strategy, the most recent information on policy developments (or past strategies), have been included.
