National Dementia Strategies

On 16 November 2015, the Gibraltar government published a draft dementia strategy online for public consultation. The strategy has been drafted by a multi-agency working group comprised of professionals across relevant public services such as the Gibraltar Health Authority, the Social Services Department at Care Agency and Elderly Residential Services. The working group also included represerntatives from the Gibraltar Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society.

The strategy sets out the government’s aims for improving the appreciation, diagnosis and care for dementia, and emphasises the need to increase awareness and support for those with dementia and their carers. It also sets out a number of targets with timelines and refers to the new dementia centres - both day care and residential - that are due to open in early 2016.

The draft strategy can be seen here or downloaded below. The original press announcement can be seen here.
