Gunhild Waldemar, MD, DMSc, is professor of clinical neurology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen and chair of the Danish Dementia Research Centre (DDRC) at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Funded by the Danish Ministry of Health, the DDRC provides nationwide education for dementia care professionals and research in epidemiological and health-related issues in people with dementia, as well as in early diagnosis and care. The DDRC plays a key role in the development and execution of the current National Dementia Plan 2025 in Denmark.
Prof. Waldemar has long-term experience with national and international policy and advocacy work in the field of dementia, neurology and global health. Prof. Waldemar serves on the executive committee of the European Alzheimer’s Disease Consortium (EADC), on the Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel of Alzheimer’s Disease International, and on the Expert Advisory Panel of Alzheimer Europe. In 2020 she was awarded the “WHO prize for research in health care for the elderly and in health promotion”. She currently serves as the president for Biomedical Alliance in Europe.
