Gill Livingston is Professor of Psychiatry of Older People, head of mental health care of older people’s research department and deputy director of the Division of Psychiatry, University College London. She is also a consultant psychiatrist working in the memory clinic, Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.

Her research focuses on intervention to help people with dementia and their families. She leads the Lancet Standing Commission on Dementia Prevention, Intervention and Care. They contained the life course analysis of potentially modifiable risks in dementia with specific recommendations about what individuals and policy makers can do. This has impacted on policy as well driven research and increased awareness. She works to the commission’s strapline “Acting now on dementia prevention, intervention, and care will vastly improve living and dying for individuals with dementia and their families, and in doing so, will transform the future for society.”  She has devised and tested successful interventions to help people and families with dementia. She is an NIHR Senior Investigator.
