Kevin is the current Chairperson of the European Working Group of People with Dementia (EWGPWD) and an ex-officio member of the Board of Alzheimer Europe, with full voting rights.
"Hi I am Kevin Quaid and 59 years old and married to Helena. I was first diagnosed with Parkinson, just over 6 years ago, then I was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. I am Chair of the Irish dementia working group, Chair of the European Working Group of People with Dementia and co-founder of Lewy body Ireland. I am very involved in PPI and I am the author of two books about Lewy body dementia, I became one of the first people in the world to write a book about Lewy body dementia from the patients point of view when I wrote my first book called Lewy Body Dementia Survival and Me and I recently published my second book called I am KEVIN not Lewy and I am currently writing my third book. I recently received, The Presidential award from Longford International College in Ireland for outstanding achievements in bringing awareness of Lewy Body Dementia, to people not just in Ireland but around the world."
Kevin was nominated by The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Prior to becoming Chairperson in 2024, he was Vice-Chair from 2022-2024.
