FIGARO

FIGARO stands for “Finding Alzheimer’s disease progression markers by CSF proteomics”.

The project is funded through the EU Joint Programme - Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND). JPND is the largest global research initiative aimed at tackling the challenge of neurodegenerative diseases.

FIGARO will run for three years with a budget of EUR 1.071.600, distributed among five collaborators. By applying large-scale proteomic analyses to cerebrospinal fluid, FIGARO aims to identify biological markers that signal how Alzheimer’s disease will progress before dementia develops. These markers are intended to support more precise stratification of people at risk and guide better targeted clinical trials and care.
