About the Anti-Stigma Award

In previous years, the Alzheimer Europe Anti-Stigma Award has covered themes including awareness raising and social connection, inclusion and diversity, innovative community initiatives, and artistic representation. Together, these themes reflect a progression from general stigma reduction efforts to more focused approaches that highlight underrepresented groups and creative ways of portraying dementia.

The 2026 Anti-Stigma award will again focus on how art can be used to address stigma and provide a positive image of dementia and people living with dementia. This year, Alzheimer Europe and the Alzheimer Europe Foundation will award a European initiative or artist combining music and dementia. These can be initiatives involving people with dementia in musical activities or can be songs or other musical productions aimed at addressing stigma and promoting a positive image of dementia.

Applications are to be submitted by the artists themselves or nominated by a national Alzheimer’s association.
