About
Hafsteinn Fridfinnsson is from Reykjavík but currently, he is living in Mosfellsbær , a town close to the capital. He and his wife Kolbrún have two daughters and one son.
Hafsteinn was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia in February 2022 at only 51 years old. Soon after he was diagnosed, he joined Alzheimer Iceland. In spring 2023, a few partners of people with Lewy Body dementia started a support group for both Lewy Body partners and patients. The group holds meetings several times a year. The group is also in very good cooperation with Alzheimer Iceland. The main purpose of the group is to share knowledge of Lewy Body, connect with people who have an early Lewy Body diagnosis and help people to find the right path. Lastly, it’s very important to share stories within the group.

Hafsteinn holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Iceland and a Diploma in Public Administration. He needs to write a Master’s thesis to complete his Master degree in Public Administration.
He has a broad spectrum of working experience, mostly in public sector in Iceland. He has mostly worked as a project manager in web design, for example, Reykjavik.is, Ja.is and Vinbudin.is and several others.
The following issues, are of special interest to Hafsteinn;
• Importance of taking care of the body by being active in sports or other movements.
• Thinking about the importance that people with dementia are human until the end of their lives.
• Sharing knowledge with the public, for example, awareness of Lewy Body dementia.
Outdoor activities of all kinds -- golf, football, running, hiking etc.-- are at the top of Hafsteinn’s list of hobbies.
His favourite time is with his family, his daughters, his son and their boy-and girlfriends.
