About
Emil Emilsson is from a small town located on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west part of Iceland. Currently, he and his wife, Erla, live in Garðabær, a town close to the capital.
Erla Jónsdóttir, Emil's wife, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2020 at the age of 63. Immediately, she and Emil joined Alzheimer Iceland and have participated in the active work of the Icelandic version of the Working Group of People with Dementia. This group consists of active individuals who aim to share knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, both among group members and to the general public.
For the past five years, Erla and Emil, as her supporter, have participated in the important work of the “European Working Group of People With Dementia”.
Emil holds a BA in Economics from the University of Iceland and an MSc from CBS, Copenhagen Business School. He has a broad spectrum of working experience.
Emil and Erla are passionate advocates for lifting the stigma around brain diseases by openly discussing the issue as often as possible and in as many places as possible.
Emil and Erla have two daughters and four grandchildren. Additionally, they are expecting their fifth grandchild in October. ❤️❤️❤️
In 2024, Alzheimersamtökin á Íslandi nominated Emil Emilsson for the mandate 2024-2027.
