On 19 June, 11 members from the national and international Public Involvement (PI) groups of the PREDICTOM project came together online for an information session. Participants from Ireland, Italy, Spain and UK. joined the event, which featured a talk by Sigurd Brandt (Denmark), titled “The Hearing Loss and Cognition Link.” Sigurd Brandt (pictured) is the Medical Director at GN BrainWorks, part of the GN Group, which is one of the industry partners in the PREDICTOM project. The session was hosted by Sarah Campill (Alzheimer Europe Public Involvement Officer).
The presentation focused on the growing body of research exploring the links between hearing, cognitive health and the potential impact of hearing aids. The second half of the session was dedicated to an open Q&A, allowing attendees to ask questions, share reflections and raise concerns. The presentation was well received, with one participant describing it as “thought-provoking” and another noting that, despite some findings seeming “counter-intuitive at first”, it made a lot of sense in hindsight.
