I was delighted, this summer, to welcome my EWGPWD colleague Miha, from the Czech Republic, to my island (Madeira). He came on vacation with his family for two weeks. My daughter and I tried to make their trip as pleasant as possible and for us, it was an unforgettable experience. It is these friendships that give meaning to life and to our struggle. These friendships remain. Together, we visited the “Place of memories” day care centre, as well as the Alzheimer Portugal headquarters, where I am based. We did many different activities and Miha had the opportunity to enjoy some complementary therapies that we offer to those who use our centre, such as music therapy and “snoezelen room” (cognitive stimulation room). Idalina is supported by her daughter Nélida, to whom we are grateful for her help in translating Idalina's words to English.
