English National Health Service publishes a guide to dementia wellbeing in the COVID-19 pandemic

In 2016, NHS (National Health Service) England published the “Well Pathway for Dementia”, a framework targeted at improving dementia prevention, diagnosis, support and care.  The NHS Guide to Dementia Wellbeing in the COVID-19 Pandemic is designed as a companion to the Well Pathway, compiling guidance and resources to support healthcare professionals, caregivers and people with dementia.

Similar to the Well Pathway, the guide divides its resources and recommendations across six pillars: preventing well, diagnosing well, treating well, supporting well, living well, and dying well. For example, key actions and priorities identified for “Preventing Well” include the maintenance of physical and mental wellbeing through at home activities, while those for ‘Supporting Well” include suggestions for care homes, guidance for home carers and the promotion of digital methods to maintain care provision at a distance.
