Alzheimer Europe holds first meeting for continued work on intercultural care and support

27/03/2020

On 27 March, Alzheimer Europe organised a 2-hour teleconference with members of the ethics working group on intercultural care and support. The group agreed on the focus, scope and organisation of the planned work, which builds on the 2018 report on the development of intercultural care and support for people with dementia from minority ethnic groups on. This continued work is funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. The group will be producing two short publications (namely, a practical guide for health and social care professionals and a short report for policy makers), writing an article for a peer-reviewed journal targeted at clinicians and refining the current database of initiatives for intercultural dementia care and support within Europe. Despite the current situation with the coronavirus, it is hoped that the working group can still function well and that this work will be completed by the end of the year. If readers would like to share any intercultural care initiatives, please contact Alzheimer Europe so that we can include them in the database. Dianne Gove and Jean Georges participated in this meeting.
