About
Anders Wimo’s research areas are geriatric health economy and epidemiology. He co-authored ADI´s World Alzheimer Reports 2010 and 2015 about global dementia epidemiology and costs, and he was the principal author of ADI’s 2018 report on global estimates of informal care time. He also contributed to World Alzheimer Reports 2021 and 2022. He co-authored WHO’s report Dementia: a public health priority from 2012 and he is currently involved in WHO’s GDO project. He was one of the contributors to WHO´s report “The Global status report on the public response to dementia” in 2021.
He is member of the steering committee of the population-based project Swedish National study on Aging and Care (SNAC) and was one of the research founders of the Swedish dementia registry SveDem. He has participated and still participates in many EU-projects (e.g. ALCOVE, RightTimePlaceCare, ACTIFCARE, MOPEAD, PRODEMOS, MIND-AD, ADDITION, EURO-FINGER,PROMINENT) and he is part of Alzheimer Europe's Expert Advisory Panel. He has worked as an expert for the Swedish national board of health and welfare several times and he participated in the update of the Swedish guidelines for dementia care. He is one of the creators of the Resource Utilisation in Dementia (RUD) instrument, which is used worldwide in health economic research in dementia.
