About
Dr. Christian Bakker is a healthcare psychologist and program leader of the young-onset dementia research program at the department of Primary and Community Care of the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In his research there is a focus on dementia research, specifically with an onset prior to the age of 65. Research lines in his work are aimed at the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions in dementia within a family context, the education of healthcare professionals and development of tools to support these professionals and the development of integrated diagnostic and post-diagnostic care and support. He is involved in several research consortia within these domains (YOD-INCLUDED, FOCUSSEN, YD-CAN, CARE4YOUNGDEM).
Next to his work at the Radboudumc he is also involved as a clinician and program manager at Groenhuysen Center for Geriatric Care in Roosendaal, the Netherlands. He is also board member of the Young-onset Dementia Knowledge Center and chair of the scientific board of the Knowledge Center. The primary aim of the Knowledge Center is to develop and implement supportive services for those with young-onset dementia and their relatives, supporting them to live well with dementia.
