What are the researchers trying to find out?

The purpose of the study is to create the first French national APOE registry, accessible online, straightforward, and based on a saliva sample taken at home. This will address the need for early identification of individuals at risk for late-onset Alzheimer's disease for precision prevention in Alzheimer's disease.

How long will the study last?

Up top 2 years

What your involvement will entail?
  • During the study, participants will be asked to complete online questionnaires (risk-factor and cognitive assessments)
  • To provide a home-collected saliva sample for APOE genotyping
  • To complete some laboratory tests (e.g., blood test, urine)
  • Some participants will be asked to complete additional tests (accessing clinical and cognitive functions) and brain scans (MRI).

Who can participate in this study?

Who can participate in the study?

To take part in the study, participants must:

  • Be 45 years old and older
  • Reside in France
  • Able to read and understand the study information in French or with the help of a legal representative
  • Be affiliated with the French national health insurance system · Have access to the internet and a valid email address
  • Self-collect and return a saliva sample using a provided kit.
Who cannot participate in the study?

Exclusion criteria include:

  • Participants younger than 45 years at the time of consent.
  • Inabilities to read or understand French
  • Cognitive impairments, severe dementia or psychiatric conditions
  • Substance use disorder (alcohol or drug dependence) within the past 24 months
  • Enrolment in the ALZEVIT study or its pilot phase.

The above list is not exhaustive. It includes the most common conditions and diseases that might exclude people from the study.
