Dr Aviva Cohen and her team at University College Dublin, Ireland, have developed an innovative new app called Empathic, aiming to help people who are no longer able to communicate verbally to independently communicate their emotions. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to interpret short recordings of non-verbal vocalisations.
