The Scottish Government, in collaboration with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), has launched a new campaign aimed at the public, encouraging people to challenge their pre-conceived view of dementia. The “Rethink Dementia” campaign was launched on 4 September 2024, across TV, cinema, radio, press and digital media, supported by a PR campaign. The campaign aims to address the stigma around the illness, encouraging people to continue doing everyday activities with friends or relatives diagnosed with dementia. In addition, it highlights that research shows that including people with dementia in social activities can help them stay well for longer, as well as alleviating symptoms such as depression, anxiety and apathy.
