Meditation fosters relaxation and can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention for cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Electroencephalography (EEG) measuring the electric activity of the brain has been widely used as a tool for detecting brain changes even at the early stages of AD. A recent RADAR-AD study investigated the effect of meditation practices on the human brain across the AD spectrum by using a novel portable EEG headband in a smart-home environment. The results showed the potential of digital devices to detect early cognitive decline and brain alterations in a smart-home without medical support.
