On 5 June, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) held a patient think tank (PTT) meeting in Brussels. Big Data and data sharing featured throughout the PTT meeting, which included presentations on I~HD (enriching knowledge and enhancing care through health data) and ‘Data Saves Lives’ projects. An overview of the general data protection regulation (GDPR) and the GDPR research exemption was also presented. Of particular relevance to Alzheimer Europe, ‘Data Saves Lives’ is a multi-platform initiative co-created by the European Patients’ Forum, aiming to develop an information-rich interface for patients and members of the public that enables them to participate in conversations around health data use and sharing. Finally, EFPIA presented an update on the patient remuneration principles being co-developed by EFPIA and the PTT. Alzheimer Europe Project Officer Angela Bradshaw attended the meeting.
