Alzheimer Europe is delighted to present the 52nd edition of its policy magazine, Dementia in Europe, launched to coincide with the start of the 36th Alzheimer Europe Conference (#36AEC). The conference is taking place at the Convention Centre Dublin, where delegates can stop by the Alzheimer Europe stand if they wish to pick up a copy. We wish our 1,400 or so delegates a fantastic experience in Dublin at #36AEC and we look forward to hearing from our distinguished guests and speakers.
Dementia in Europe magazine Issue 52
We are delighted to introduce issue 52 of the Dementia in Europe magazine. This edition of our magazine and this conference mark the final ones during the tenure of our Executive Director, Jean Georges, who will take retirement at the end of 2026. After 30 years leading our organisation from strength to strength, he will leave behind an impressive legacy. Our first Keynote session at this year's conference will be delivered by Jean, who will take us through his time at Alzheimer Europe, and with his retirement in sight, our first article in this magazine is an interview looking back at some highlights and milestones. We all wish Jean, who is featured on the cover of this special edition of our magazine, a wonderful retirement, and we will miss him very much!
This packed edition also shares many interesting developments at national and European level across policy, research, Public Involvement, advocacy and care.
To mark #36AEC, we also have a dedicated section called "Spotlight on Ireland". In this dedicated section, readers can find out more about the work being done in this year's conference host country. We are particularly grateful to Kieran O'Donnell, Minister for Older People and Housing in Ireland, for agreeing to do an interview, as well as to our conference co-hosts The Alzheimer Society of Ireland for their support and contributions to this section of the magazine.
