Brothers Jordan and Cian Adams, known as the FTD Brothers, were welcomed to Government Buildings and Leinster House, the seat of Ireland's Parliament, as part of their remarkable campaign to raise vital funds and awareness for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The challenge was undertaken in memory of their mother, Geraldine, who was diagnosed with young-onset frontotemporal dementia and passed away in 2016, as well as other relatives affected by the condition.
In May 2026, on the day they completed their extraordinary challenge of running 33 marathons in 33 days, including a marathon in every county in Ireland, Jordan and Cian were invited to Government Buildings and met with Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin, Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Simon Harris, Minister of State for Older People Kieran O'Donnell, along with a number of elected representatives, to discuss dementia diagnosis, care, research and supports, while highlighting the aims of their campaign.
The brothers returned this time to Dáil Éireann which is Ireland's Parliament in Leinster House in July as guests of Teachta Dála TD (Member of Parliament) Micheál Carrigy for a special parliamentary debate on dementia. During the debate, TDs and Senators from across the political spectrum paid tribute to their achievement and acknowledged the significant impact of their advocacy in raising awareness of dementia and the challenges faced by those living with the condition. Members of the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) also highlighted the importance of continued investment in diagnosis, research, care and support services.
Prior to the debate, Jordan and Cian met with politicians from across the political spectrum and took part in a photocall at Leinster House to mark the success of their campaign and the awareness it has generated around frontotemporal dementia. Through their determination, resilience and openness in sharing their family's story, Jordan and Cian have inspired communities across Ireland and beyond. Their campaign has raised more than EUR 2.3 million for dementia, which will be split between The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland and the FTD Foundation, while helping to improve public understanding of frontotemporal dementia and offering hope to people living with dementia and their families.
