Celebrated British comic actress Prunella Scales (pictured, left), whose acting career spanned more than seven decade and who was most famous for playing Sybil Fawlty in the 70s sitcom Fawlty Towers, has died with vascular dementia, at the age of 93. She passed away peacefully at her home in London, on 27 October. She was married to British television and film actor Timothy West, who himself passed away last year. The star, who had been diagnosed with vascular dementia, was watching the sitcom the day before she died, her sons Samuel and Joseph West said in a statement confirming her death. Comedian John Cleese (pictured, standing), who played her on-screen husband, Basil Fawlty, paid tribute to his co-star, as did the British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. Corinne Mills, Chief Operating Officer at Alzheimer's Society, called her "a true British icon" and praised her for "shining an important light on the UK's biggest killer".
