European Parliament and European Council reach agreement on EU budget 2022

On 15 November, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, reached an informal political agreement on the EU budget for 2022. The agreement contains commitments totalling EUR 169.5 billion. Of particular interest for policies relevant for dementia:

  • EUR 12.2 billion has been allocated for Horizon Europe, to support the EU's research in areas such as health, digital, mobility etc

  • EUR 839.7 million has been allocated for the EU4Health programme to support initiatives such as the European Health Union.

The annual budget for 2022 will now be formally adopted by the Council of the European Union and by the European Parliament.
