European Disability Forum launches accessibility discrimination database

12/04/2022

Supported with resources from the European Commission and the European Railway Awards, the European Disability Forum (EDF) has launched an Accessibility Discrimination Database, focused on transport. Despite legislation introduced by the European Union and Member States legislatures in recent years to challenge discrimination in transport faced by persons with disabilities, they often still face difficulties in practice across all types of transport. Individuals can submit to the database examples of discrimination they have faced when using different forms of transport – this can be done if anonymously if preferred. EDF will not directly contact transport companies, national authorities or other bodies on to resolve the issue. Rather, the examples will be aggregated and used as part of EDF’s policy work, as it campaigns for Member States to adopt and implement laws and policies that will hopefully prevent such situations from happening in the future. More information, or how to submit examples to the database, can be found at: https://accessibility.edf-feph.org/
