The Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs will provide support to the tune of EUR 1.5 million, taken from the state budget, for care homes wishing to create a more dementia-friendly environment. A total of 38 applications were received for this funding. They are now being evaluated and decisions about support will be made by the end of April 2019. The State will support the costs of making adjustments such as design, construction, interior or landscape architectural works, installation of stationary furniture, and equipment suitable for persons with dementia. In particular, projects with different technological solutions were expected; for example, those wanting to use remote monitoring systems and fall sensors to ensure the safety and quality of life of residents. The terms and conditions of the grant and the evaluation methodology were based on an expert analysis conducted by NGO Living with Dementia in 2018.
