EMA hosts live demonstration of new clinical trial EU map

07/03/2025

On 7 March, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) hosted a public webinar showcasing a live demonstration of the new clinical trial map, an innovative tool available through the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS) website. The webinar attracted around 800 participants and offered a demonstration of the map’s features. Participants were encouraged to engage with the demonstration through a live Q&A session. For those unable to attend, a video recording of the session will be made available soon. The map is designed to provide patients and healthcare professionals with easy access to comprehensive, real-time information about clinical trials being conducted in their geographic area, increasing potential access to clinical research in the European Union. Users can look for ongoing trials by geographic area and medical condition.

Search results offer investigator’s contact details, enabling members of the public to directly enquire about potential enrolment into a given trial. The first version of the map is provided in English. Additional EU languages will be added in future releases. The creation of this map is an action of the Accelerating Clinical Trials in the European Union (ACT EU) initiative workplan for 2025-2026. It responds to requests from stakeholders who emphasised the need for a simple, patient-friendly dashboard to help patients and healthcare professionals easily locate clinical trials of interest running in the EU. AE Project Officer Cindy Birck attended the webinar. To explore the clinical trial map, visit: https://euclinicaltrials.eu/search-for-clinical-trials/trial-map/
