Hollywood actor Bruce Willis, 67, was recently diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). FTD is a less common type of dementia and is mostly diagnosed between the ages of 45 and 65, though it can also affect younger or older people. Mr Willis' family released a statement in February, announcing his diagnosis. This followed his retirement last year due to aphasia (difficulty with speech or language). Bruce Willis is best known for his portrayal of the central character Detective John McClane in the "Die Hard" series of movies, between 1988 and 2013. He also starred in popular sci-fi action thrillers "12 Monkeys" (1995) directed by Terry Gilliam and Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element" (1997), as well as taking leading roles in M. Night Shyamalan's movies "Sixth Sense" (1999), "Unbreakable" (2000) and "Glass" (2019).
