On 22 March 2023, Alzheimer Larissa celebrated the day of the caregiver at the Hatzigianneio Cultural Center, with a diverse and interactive programme. The event was opened by journalist Sasha Apostolopoulou, with the interview with Alzheimer Larissa President Eleni Nifli, regarding the celebration of caregivers' day and the launch of the Family Caregiver Award. Eleni Nifli pointed out that the award constitutes a minimal reward for long-term hard work. Greetings followed from the Regional Vice Governor of Health, Aglaia Rogganaki, the Deputy Mayor of Social Policy, Voulgaris Sotiris and from Members of Parliament regarding the important work of Alzheimer Larissa. Moreover, high school student Olia Pouloulis, recited her own experiential poem "I wish you won't forget me", which was an emotional moment for the audience. Eleni Nifli gave her a purple T-shirt, a symbol of Alzheimer Larissa, while the girl declared that she is going to become a volunteer. Eleni Nifli then awarded two male and two female caregivers for the provision of spousal and parental care for 11 years. The laureates, deeply moved, told the audience that this award belongs to the members of Alzheimer Larissa, because they have been offering free support services for 20 years. The event closed with the theatrical play: "The man who mistook his wife for a hat", an adaptation of Oliver Sacks’ play. The play taught the viewers about the realities of marital life with a person living with dementia and the constant emotional struggle between the caregiver and their partner in a realistic and also romantic light.
