Lorina Naci is Professor of Psychology and leader of “Consciousness and Cognition” group at the School of Psychology, at Trinity College Dublin (www.lorinanaci.org). Her work focuses on developing novel biomarkers of healthy and disordered cognition in brain-injured and ageing populations, including individuals with early Alzheimer's dementia. She has made ground-breaking contributions to the understanding of cognition and consciousness for individuals with severely limited motoric output, such as severely brain-injured, anaesthetised or advanced Alzheimer's Disease patients. Concurrently, her work explores the medico-ethical and societal implications of these applications. She is Lead PI of the RESOLVE Project (www.theresolvestudy.org) on the impact of contact sports related TBI on brain health, and Dublin Lead of the multi-site programme PREVENT Dementia (www.preventdementia.co.uk). Professor Naci is recipient of the Health Research Board Individual Lead Projects Award (2025), the Frontiers for the Future Award from Research Ireland (2025), and the International L'Oréal Foundation and UNESCO International Rising Talent Award (2018). She is a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin, and has held the Cooke Fellowship at Cambridge University, UK, and the L'Oréal for Women in Science Research Excellence Fellowship in Ontario, Canada. She has also been funded by Irish Research Council, and Enterprise Ireland, the Alzheimer’s Society of the UK, the Welcome Trust, etc. Professor Naci recently served as a member of the Governing Board of the Global Brain Health Institute, at Trinity College Dublin and University of California San Francisco, USA, and Council member of ‘Neuroscience Ireland’, Ireland’s national neuroscience society.
