Session: PL01. Living with Dementia
Find the detailed programme here.
----------------------------------------------
Kjell is 64 years old and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia three years ago. This was, of course, a shock although he tried living with the attitude that this is not the worst thing that could happen.
After the initial phase, he came more and more to terms with this way of life. He had stopped working and primarily focused on the things that he believed would support him and his family in this situation.
His interests include swimming, running, hiking and travelling, and he is also interested in how to manage the mental side of this disease. What he also enjoys is studying Spanish with a couple of “amigos” every week and writing a column in a quarterly magazine of the Swedish dementia organisation.
He lives with his wife, Eva, in Nyköping in Sweden and they have two children, Jonas (31) and Sofia (28).
He is really pleased to be part of the European Working Group of People With Dementia and to see how to develop support for people with dementia and carers on a European level.
In 2024, Demensförbundet nominated Kjell Ehn for the mandate 2024-2027.
