Session: PL01. Living with Dementia

Find the detailed programme here.

----------------------------------------------

Jost is 59 years old,  married and lives with his wife and their two sons in St. Gallen (Switzerland). Their daughter is studying abroad. In 2021, he was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer's dementia. Through attending meetings of mosa!k, a regional association in eastern Switzerland for people affected by early-onset dementia and their families, he was introduced to a national Impulse Group of Alzheimer Switzerland in 2023. Engaging with other people affected by this condition helped him to better understand dementia in its diversity. From his experience so far, feeling connected to people and the planet, doing sport, and nurturing positive emotions and curiosity are effective ways to slow down memory loss.

While he likes cycling, swimming, running, people and nature, he is also interested in processes of learning and unlearning on the individual and societal level.

He is a member of the European Working Group of People With Dementia.
