Sabina Capellari is a neurologist working in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly movement disorders and dementia, at the IRCCS Institute of Neurological Sciences in Bologna and Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Bologna.
She has extensive experience in molecular biology, which began working on prion diseases while attending Prof. Gambetti's group at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and currently extends to the genetics of degenerative dementias.
She is an expert in diagnostics, biomarkers and molecular genetics of earlyonset dementia and participated in the creation of the Emilia Romagna regional pathway for earlyonset dementia.
She has been the local PI of several research projects related to dementia, is the contact person for the IRCCS Institute of Neurological Sciences in Bologna for FTD at the ERN-RND (European Reference Network for Rare Neurological Diseases), for genetics at the Virtual Institute for Dementia of the RIN (IRCCS Network of Neuroscience and Neurorehabilitation).
