Dr Claire Fyvie is a consultant clinical psychologist who has spent her professional life working in the field of traumatic stress. She was the director of the Rivers Centre, a specialist trauma service in Scotland’s National Health Service, for more than twenty-five years and more recently worked for the Scottish Government as a Professional Advisor.
Claire took early retirement at the end of 2023 in order to look after her fifteen-year old son, Alexander, who has Niemann-Pick Disease Type C, also known as “Childhood Alzheimer’s”. Claire is a member of the childhood dementia collaborative network recently established as part of a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland and the Childhood Dementia Initiative in Australia.
