Belgian Royal Palace hosts exhibition "The Memory Palace" bringing dementia into focus

The Memory Palace exhibition, which took place from 3 July to 16 August at the Royal Palace in Brussels (Belgium), demonstrated that dementia belongs not at the margins of society, but at its centre. The exhibition was created by researcher Kasper Bormans together with the conceptual artist Unik-ID.
This special walk through the Mirror Room brought the “shadow participants” out of the shadows. Dementia affects not only the person living with the condition, but also those close to them. Seventy percent of people with dementia still live at home and are cared for by relatives or loved ones. In this way, the condition affects three times as many people than the people with dementia themselves: family, friends, caregivers, healthcare workers, colleagues, neighbours, …
