The Alzheimer Europe Foundation is collaborating with the INTERDEM Academy to award ten bursaries of EUR 1,000 for early stage researchers wishing to attend and present at the Alzheimer Europe Conference. We are looking for “Dementia researchers of the future” willing to share their work and research on “Innovative approaches to dementia”.
Please apply submit your application for one of these bursaries by sending in your abstract and a short bio by 15 May 2024 via the abstract submission portal (https://www.alzheimer-europe.org/conferences/2024-geneva/online-abstract-submission-form) under the topic “Dementia researchers of the future – Innovative approaches to dementia”. Please also provide a short bio (maximum 200 words), a short abstract of your planned five-minute presentation and a short statement about your motivation and expectations (maximum 200 words) regarding your participation in the Alzheimer Europe Conference in Geneva.
The ten selected early stage researchers will be asked to make a five-minute presentation during a special lunch time symposium scheduled at the Alzheimer Europe Conference in Geneva. The session for “Dementia researchers of the future” is scheduled on Wednesday, 9 October from 12.00 to 13.00.
As an exception to the rule that presenters can only make one presentation at the conference, early stage researchers selected for a quick oral presentation at the special lunch time symposium may also be selected to present in other sessions.
The bursaries are open to researchers studying or working in European countries whose gross national income (GNI) per inhabitant is less than 90% of the European Union average. The following countries will be eligible: Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine. Please note that early stage researchers should be studying or working in these countries, rather than having the nationality of these countries.
Early stage researchers for these bursaries are defined as current PhD students or post docs or other positions, who are at a maximum of 5 years after receiving their degree. If applicable, please indicate in your bio when your PhD was received.
Please note that bursaries should be used to cover the registration fee for the conference (EUR 200), as well as travel and accommodation expenses. Bursaries will be paid after the early stage researcher has made the five-minute quick oral presentation at the conference. No supporting documents will be required.
