In 2009, Frédérique Ries, MEP (Renew Eur, Belgium) joined the European Alzheimer’s Alliance.
In her contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority she :
- signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge.
- signed EP Written Declaration 80/2008 on 6 February 2009, concerning the priorities in the fight against Alzheimer's disease
- marked 2011 World Alzheimer’s Day, by hosting an event organised in Brussels, "Facing the future – Developing an EU strategy on Alzheimer’s" on 21 September
- signed the Glasgow Declaration on 23 February 2015.
Prior to the European Parliament elections in May 2014, Ms Ries signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge, thus remaining a member of the EAA. In October 2014.
In the run-up to the European Parliament elections in May 2019, Frédérique Ries again signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge, thus continuing as a member of the EAA and affirming her support for greater EU collaboration on dementia.
