Description

The trial project consisted of taking people living with and affected by dementia into Primary / Secondary schools as co-educators to ‘tell their story’ and answer pupil questions. The aims of the trial project were to:
1. Develop a greater pupil knowledge and understanding of dementia through first hand interactions with people living with / affected by dementia.
2. Empower people living with / affected by dementia to educate and influence school communities, increasing sense of purpose and improving well-being.
3. Develop pupil skills and confidence in interacting with people living with / affected by dementia, supporting the development of intergenerational relationships.
4. Dispel myths and misconceptions, challenge stigma, break down fear and enable positive attitudes towards dementia.
