A new national awareness campaign is launched in France on World Alzheimer’s Day

21/09/2026

On 21 September 2026, on the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day and in the frame of its Neurodegenerative Diseases Strategy 2025-2030, the French Ministry of Health, Autonomy and Disability launched a national awareness campaign on social media.
More than 1.6 million people in France live with a neurodegenerative disease. This campaign aims to shift perceptions, tackle stigma and give a voice to people directly concerned. It also focuses on bringing direct information to the general public, particularly on prevention, diagnosis and existing solutions to support people living with dementia or another neurodegenerative disease, as well as to their carers and supporters.
A page has been specifically created on the Ministry's website to provide information and guide users to available resources, particularly the websites of the different organisations such as France Alzheimer: https://solidarites.gouv.fr/vivre-avec-une-maladie-neurodegenerative
The campaign is driven by a key message: "Let’s face up to neurodegenerative diseases" to live better together and enhance inclusivity. It will run until June 2027, during which time it will cover all the various pathologies. It features posters designed for regular social media posts and interviews with individuals living with these conditions are also being shared.
On 21 September, the general public was introduced to Yannick, living with Alzheimer’s disease, who shared his moving message.
On a different note, even though organisations such as France Alzheimer will be supporting and reposting the campaign since its objective is essential, they nevertheless regret the limited scale and budget allocated to the rollout of this campaign, and France Alzheimer notes that it would have had a much greater impact if it had also been broadcast on national radio and through national TV spots.
