On 28 October, at the 36th Alzheimer Europe Conference in Dublin, The Alzheimer Society Of Ireland (ASI)’s Irish Dementia Working Group launched the updated Charter of Rights for People with Dementia. Created by and for people living with dementia, the Charter calls for a rights-based approach that supports people to live well, be heard and remain active members of their communities.
Produced through extensive consultation with people living with dementia across Ireland, the updated Charter places their voices, experiences and priorities at its heart, reaffirming that a dementia diagnosis should never diminish a person's rights, humanity, personhood or ability to participate in decisions affecting their own lives.
