The first consultation of the 2020-2022 European Working Group of People with Dementia (EWGPWD) took place on 18 November, on the topic of Advance Care Planning (ACP). The consultation was part of a collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the DISTINCT project. To facilitate discussions, the group was split into three smaller subgroups. The session with the first group took place in the morning, and the other two in the afternoon.
Members of the EWGPWD and their supporters were asked about how existing definitions of ACP resonated with their own experiences and expectations of ACP, and what should be adapted or changed to ensure that existing definitions reflect the views of people affected by dementia. The three sessions were facilitated by researchers from VUB and DISTINCT (Lieve Van Den Block, Lara Pivodic and Fanny Monnet). Dianne Gove and Ana Diaz supported the preparation of the meetings and were present during all sessions.
