European Commission publishes Work Programme 2026

On 21 October, the European Commission published its work programme for 2026, setting out the policies and legislative files it intends to pursue across 2026. Of interest and of relevance to the work of Alzheimer Europe is the inclusion of the following strategies: 

• Intergenerational fairness strategy (non-legislative, Q1 2026). 

• Anti-poverty strategy (non-legislative, Q2 2026). 

• Gender equality strategy 2026-2030 (non-legislative, Q1 2026). 

• Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities up to 2030 (non-legislative, Q2 2026). 

Additionally, the proposed withdrawal of COM (2023)516 final 2023/0315 (COD), a Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council in relation to European Cross-Border Associations, was also noteworthy. The full Commission Work Programme 2026 is available at:
