On 30 August 2026, a new article was published by Alzheimer Europe, called " Ethical considerations of fluid biomarker use in Alzheimer’s disease - a rapid review ", in the journal Aging and Mental Health. The authors of the paper are Faye Forsyth, Public Involvement Officer; Ana Diaz, Public Involvement Lead and Dianne Gove, Director for Public Involvement and Ethics. The review highlighted the multiple ethical concerns surrounding the use of fluid biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease treatment decisions, and called for more empirical evidence to substantiate claims about putative benefits and harms. The review also concluded that uncertainty in biomarker performance, raises risks to non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice and complicates clinical decision making.
