Alzheimer Europe was delighted to participate in the 2026 Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC2026) in London (England, UK). Our Deputy Executive Director Angela Bradshaw was in attendance, together with Project Officer Lukas Duffner and Public Involvement Officer Sarah Campill.
They were impressed with the diversity of research on the programme and encouraged by the growing number of presentations about real-world practice, associated challenges and inequalities, and potential solutions to these issues. The opportunity to connect with researchers, clinicians and sponsors, as well as colleagues from the Alzheimer's Association (US), Alzheimer's Society (UK), Alzheimer Nederland, Alzheimer's Care Armenia and others was another highlight.
Angela Bradshaw attended the WW-FINGERS network meeting on 10 July, and the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s Disease (DIAD) Family Day on 11 July, where participants heard about lived experience and advocacy alongside the latest research advances.
Lukas Duffner and Sarah Campill were also kept very busy, presenting five posters between them at the event:
On 13 July, Lukas presented “Barriers and enablers to participation in dementia research: A European public opinion survey”, while Sarah presented “Public and patient involvement – creating ethical and user-friendly care pathways”.
On 14 July, Lukas presented “Examining barriers and enablers to data sharing in dementia research – The European perspective” and Sarah presented “Views of the public on adherence to dementia risk reduction interventions: A Public Involvement approach”.
On 15 July, Lukas presented “Modifiable risk factors and national dementia strategies: A pan-European analysis”.
Huge congratulations to both of them for all their great work on these posters and for sharing this important work with the delegates at AAIC!
