On 9–10 July, the AD-RIDDLE consortium gathered in Barcelona, Spain, for its third General Assembly Meeting, hosted by the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC). The meeting brought together representatives from the project’s 27 partner organisations to review progress, strengthen collaboration and define priorities for the next phase.
The meeting opened with welcoming remarks from project co-leads Miia Kivipelto (Karolinska Institutet) and Niranjan Bose (Gates Ventures). They reflected on the project’s mission to transform the detection, diagnosis, prevention and care of Alzheimer’s disease, highlighting the importance of close collaboration across the consortium to achieve its ambitious goals.
Over the two-day meeting, consortium members presented progress across all work packages and celebrated a number of important milestones achieved during the project’s second year. A key milestone reported during the meeting was that the consortium has successfully reached its recruitment target for the AD-RIDDLE pilot study on digital cognitive assessments, marking an important step towards the real-world validation of the project’s innovative tools. Partners also celebrated the soft launch of the AD-RIDDLE Digital Engagement Platform in Sweden, representing the first wave of deployment.
One of the highlights of the second day was an engaging roundtable discussion with two Spanish members of the AD-RIDDLE Advisory Board, who shared valuable perspectives and experiences.
Within the consortium, Alzheimer Europe leads two work packages concerning facilitation of the real-world implementation of AD-RIDDLE (e.g., ethical, policy, health economic considerations) as well as communication and dissemination activities. Ana Diaz (Public Involvement Lead), Cindy Birck (Research Lead), Lukas Duffner (Project Officer) and Sarah Campill (Public Involvement Officer) joined the meeting on behalf of Alzheimer Europe.
The AD-RIDDLE project has received funding from the Innovative Health Initiative 2 Joint Undertaking (JU), under grant agreement No 101132933 (2024-2029). The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and COCIR, EFPIA, EuropaBio, MedTech Europe and Vaccines Europe, with Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, Combinostics OY., Cambridge Cognition Ltd., C2N Diagnostics LLC, and neotiv GmbH.
