Dr Richard Milne is a sociologist with expertise in social and ethical challenges associated with science, with a particular interest in social trust in scientific research and the inclusion of public and patient perspectives in deliberations around the ethics of science. His research particularly focuses on the implications of technologies for the early detection of dementia, the collection and sharing of health and genomic data and discovery research in genomics and the life sciences. He is Deputy Director of the Kavli Centre for Ethics, Science and the Public at the University of Cambridge, Head of Research and Dialogue in Wellcome Connecting Science and co-leads work on ethics, law and society within Cambridge Public Health. He has worked on and advised on UK and international projects focused on developing innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
