Professor emeritus in geriatric medicine at Landspitali University Hospital, Reykjavik, Iceland. Still serving at the Memory Clinic, currently as a Mentor to physicians in specialist training for Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Geriatrics. Main author of the National Dementia Strategies in Iceland (published in 2020). Former President of the World Medical Association.

Main research areas have been on novel diagnostic methods of neurodegenerative disorders and on genetics and main interest areas in addition have been ethics and psychosocial intervention with focus on person centered approaches.

Currently the PI at our site in three international clinical studies, two on novel drugs for Alzheimer´s disease and one on novel digital methods for evaluation of cognition. Thus, I need to disclose possible conflict of interest as I am collaborating with two companies, Novartis and Alzheon.
