Thanos Chatzikostopoulos is a psychologist and psychotherapist, nominated to the Alzheimer Europe Board by the Panhellenic Federation of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders. He holds an MSc in “Neurosciences and Neurodegenerative Diseases” and is a PhD candidate at the Department of Psychology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research interests focus on the neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia and their relationship with biomarkers, cognitive functioning, and personality dimensions. He is particularly interested in the early detection of cognitive decline, the psychological adjustment of people living with dementia and their carers, and the development and evaluation of non-pharmacological interventions in dementia care.
Since 2024, he serves as Scientific Director of the “Anaplous” Day Care Centre for Dementia in Serres, Greece. He has worked across the full spectrum of dementia care, from early cognitive assessment to late-stage and palliative settings and has served as country representative in Alzheimer Europe since 2022.
His scientific work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he also serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals in the field of neurocognitive disorders. He has presented his research at numerous European and global conferences dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Thanos was elected to the Alzheimer Europe Board in June 2026.
