WHO action on dementia

Since Alzheimer Europe presented its political priorities embedded in the "Paris Declaration" in 2006 and the Glasgow Declaration in 2014, the World health Organization (WHO) has undertaken a number of strands of work which have helped prioritise dementia in the European policy agenda. Thanks to the combined efforts of Alzheimer Europe, its members and the political support of the Members States (including the support of national policy- and decision-makers), WHO action on dementia has become a reality.

In particular, the publication of the Global Action Plan on the Public Health Response to Dementia 2017-2025 has driven many actions, particularly at a national level, providing resources and support for the development of policies to support people with dementia, their families and carers.

In this section, you can read a about a number of the actions and resources the WHO has published in recent years, with link to further WHO information.
